The day before yesterday there came a call from the child care official in town. A slot at the daycare center we wanted have opened up. She told me to talk to my hubby and call her back the next day.
Telling D gave a straight answer, "Take it!", and so we did.
Especially since we just found out that the caretaker we meet while visiting the first place, will have a baby in December, and the other caretaker has been on sick-leave half of the spring because of knee trouble, so we have no idea of who would care for our little precious.
Will call the new place next week and see if we can come visit.

we're alright
pup seems totally unaffected by yesterdays trauma, jumping, gnuffing, whining, eating and so on, just as usual. I'm feeling more and more adamant that he must have landed on his tushie, and then just toppled over as I looked there.
Not to say it didn't scare me, the memory is disturbingly cloudy though, as if it happened in a dream. I think I was still a bit groggy from the afternoon nap...
The details I remember crystal clear, but that seeing him thump his head down (without any sound though, another indicator that the fall and following topple might not have been very hard) is becoming more and more dreamlike everytime I think of it. Maybe a defense-mechanism of the mind?
After finally gathering all my guts I braved the bathroom, only to face silence. It's been quiet this morning as well, still I don't know, the other bird obviously didn't make sound all the time either, since for the 1½-3 days it was in there, hubs didn't hear it once. Mom's coming with a net and gloves when she gets of work today, 'cos I'm not attempting to remove it when I'm home alone with pup.

I don't wanna go to sleep...
as big as I am, both in age and size, I am still scared of nightmares.
Silly, I know, yet I find myself reluctant to leave the computer because that means 1) that I have to go in to the small bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready for bed and 2) that I have to go to sleep and risk nightmares...
Pup's still fine, I've checked on him regularly, and just a minute ago he howled his midnight-howl, every night around the time I go to bed he does this, must be some shift in his sleep cycle that makes the night-scare turn on (that's what it's called when babies travel between sleep-modes too quickly and get scared, most of the time not even waking up)

WTF? not again...
as if the tumble-down pup did earlier wasn't enough, now we have a bird in the air vent... AGAIN! and I ain't checking to see if it's a jackdaw this time too, for some reason it sounded "smaller" but mom thought the big birdie we picked out the other day might have a nest in there... lovely... NOT!
I'm not touching that bird. I know have a tummy tight as Jackie Chan's fists, because of this bird. I hate things that scratch in the night!
Seriously. The reason I always let out mom's cats was that if I didn't, they'd scratch the door and I'd get nightmares. And I can't even steal a bunny from pup, because he sleeps all tangled up in them...

pup takes a fall =(
today pup fell from the nursing table =(
He was sprawling around, as usual, but since he doesn't go over the sides I only blocked the bottom end as I leaned down to examine where the heck it was dripping from.
Apparently, there's a hole in the U-bend. Just as I saw that, something brushed my arm rather heavily, I turn my head and see pup hit the floor with his head =(
he looked shocked for a moment before he began to cry, but he never passed out or anything. He cried when I called mom, but calmed down before we were done.
Then called the ER (they do the non-emergency health advice in off-hours) and he was gently cuddling with me under a frozen blanket, but before the end of the call he was giggkingly chasing my phone, that's when I knew he was alright.
He probably landed on his butt and didn't hit his head any harder than when he topples over from sitting still (which happens everyday...).
Most likely he rolled over to his tummy crawl backwards, and knowing his mom would stop him (since she has everytime since he figured it out), he naturally gave her arm a wide berth...

nothing really...
Today has been totally meh...
Pup's been whining when we've been at home, even though it's really cold in comparison to last week.
But when we went outside he was completely sunshine. Just as he was when first grandpa and then granny came over to see him. D apparently called him "visitation-baby" (gåbort-bebis) the other day when speaking to his dad. Couldn't be more spot on!
I finally saw Twilight: Eclipse today. It was pretty much meh as well. Not that I expected much, and it's really the best one so far, but I surfed as I watched it in a corner of the screen, it didn't capture me at all.

nursing
right now I'm doing some serious debating on my family forum, about nursing/breast feeding/bottleing... A person thinks it's very disrespectful to ask people why they don't nurse. Fair enough (I however think it comes down to how you ask) but the person still thinks it's OK to question why people wanna continue nursing if it's troublesome. The thing I'm arguing is that the person is behaving exactly the way she say is bad, only she does it to the other side...
Now I gotta go back, to see if the person responds to the questions about this hypocrisy =)

pic's and pieces of pram
So... it's been a few days again, mostly because it's so warm that the puppy don't stay content. And because we rarely stay inside for longer periods. We spend much time at mom's or elsewhere, just to be out of this freakishly hot apartment. 30ºC is avarege, we're lucky if we get it below 28º before bedtime, it's awful!
Oh well, I have some new pictures, in case you're interested...
beginning Wednesday last week (continuing until Saturday night) was the Maritime Days at the Maritime Quarter in town. Always tons of people there, artists playing, food stands and so on. I usually don't go, unless someone really wants me to join, but this year we were there 3 out of 4 nights. Because pup just wouldn't sleep indoors. Well, the last two he didn't sleep outdoors either, but it was worth a shot, and he didn't scream while we were outside amongst people.
Of course he wore protective headphones, they usually have quite the sound level there, this year it was a tad bit better though.
Pup's begun eating a bit chunkier food. Here spaghetti with mincemeat sauce. Very fun to spit out and gue with...
There's a ton of flea markets going on right now, everywhere. Last Saturday I attended the same one as I was selling at the previous weekend, and found this. A carry-cot/bassinet for a pram like mine, only older (different mounting systems) filled with "pram clothes" for only 5€
I bought it, I saw it before and had to think about it. I mean, I really don't need another bassinet, but 5€ for pram cloth? It's a find and a bargain and even a steal! The only thing I wished had been there was the canopy skeleton, because I haven't been able to dis-assemble my own even though I've really tried. They said I could have it too. =)
The reason I want new gears on my pram is that it's so freaking black when you put the footsack on (as we will in the fall) and also because as "rare" as the color Strike is, one in my mommy group, and one in the baby-swim class has the exact same (but on a smaller pram, the City Cross) and another in the mommy group has the same color minus the orange stripes. And two people from work has that color too. I see "my" color everywhere and it's so boring.
Edit:: Pictures removed due to lack of space
And this is the bassinet. The seller said I could come by and pick up the "skeleton" for the canopy if I were ever in their 'hood, turned out they live just next to D's parents, so we picked it up yesterday. And the seller added the rest of the parts too, aka the seat and the chassi... What the heck am I gonna do with those? Asked one who has an OLD ELpram if she wanted the seat, and the chassi... well, I guess the junkyard or something...
I am however liking this bassinet's bugg cover much more than my new one which comes out of the canopy. Because it doesn't really work good when the seat is on, meaning I probably need to use an external one anyway. Gonna see if this bassinet fits on my chassi (I saw some signs that it might) but have no high hopes. But I'm thinking maybe we can unscrew stuff and change the dressing that way... We'll see about that.
At D's grandparents yesterday we both got allergic reactions, and I think it was mainly because of these "sausages".I had such a hard time staying awake on the way home, and I WAS THE DRIVER!
When we came home I (again) heard an distinct scratching on the closed air vent in the little bathroom. Asked D if he heard it too, and sure enough. Felt a bit bad since I know I heard it Saturday too, and maybe even Friday, but forgot to say anything to him.
He opened the vent while I was trying to put a howling pup to sleep, and there was a jackdaw in there... Long story short, he got it out and coaxed it out from the balcony without being bitten or scratched at all. I'm glad he was home. If I had been alone I probably could have done it myself, but knowing myself I feel it in my gut that I would have been both bitten and scratched, and then have to spend my night in the ER to get shots and other nasty stuff.

the day at sea
And on that boat there was a mom e-i e-i oh!
And she said sh-sh here and don't go there e-i e-i oh!...
Pup really enjoyed the boat ride. So much to see.
Though the food wasn't particularly good. Thawed raspberries, still frosty, mind you, he ate them all!
We found a pretty islet and landed. On the other side was the open ocean. We reckoned that when fall storms blow hard, the waves come straight over the top of this islet.
We had food and drinks and then the grandmothers decided to go swimming. Insanity, I know. Of course, this one took her time, as usual.
So the gnuffer splashes on in a shallow pool. It was kinda icky and exciting, all at the same time =)
And then finally she was in. (yup, this is the photographic evidence)
then the gnuffer took a rest in his brand new second hand stroller. Bought the same morning on our way to the rendezvous point. A Finnish brand called Emma
Once awake it was time for his bath. Then the boys went to the boat to boil potatoes on the gasoline stove, and suddenly it began bubbling around pup. I figured he was peeing, until I saw the color *groan* so the the pup ended up in the ocean while his granny rinsed out the pool and then we gave him new water and sat him back in it. He behaved better this time =)
After dinner was finished we began packing up, and then left the islet like we found it...
... pretty much untouched and on the brink of the ocean.

busy day ahead
- go get some more sleep, stayed up way too late 'cos D came home from a week of work, and of course pup woke up when he heard his daddy's voice ♥
- do the dishes
- make food for pup
- mommy-date at a local beach (a different from the one we tried last week)
- birthday party for A who turns 7, I can't believe she's so big, I remember when she was still in her mommy's tummy (got to know her while she was preggers)
- hopefully check out a "new" umbrella stroller. It's about double the price I had set away for a stroller, but if that'll just get me crap I'm not worse than that I can change.

the tooth
isn't it the pretties tooth you ever saw? *eye roll*
it took more than just a little coaxing and persuasion to get this pic...
and ended in bribery... he got my phone, and as soon as the camera and mommy's hands left his mouth, the phone went in *sigh*
I was a tad bit loud when his mother removed his lovely, tasty, new chewing toy...

today was warm...
so warm that we left town and went to my mom.
I washed our rag-rugs with her high-pressure washer. Quite effortless in comparison to how it was done before, standing out in the sea with a table, and then trying to not get sand in the rugs as you carried them ashore...
I received an e-mail with what I hoped to be a better stroller for pup. HA! I had specifically asked for a stroller with "umbrella fold", and this wasn't, which made it bust. We need the umbrella-type to fit it in the boat. So the search goes on, I still have one more to try and get a hold of, it's worth a shot.

massive picture update =)
First out, yesterday we went to a medieval type of fair, totally boring, and nothing but junk for sale, but pup got to see a little people and was happy.
And no. he didn't ride in the trunk, he just sat there while I set up the pram. Wearing his tank-top as a hat since I had forgotten to bring one.
Exactly 8 month old he premiered riding forward in the Trekko. His opinion?
The bumper-bar was both tasty and mighty fun to kick. Other than that he didn't seem to care (sitting) either way.
And as his mommy disassembled the pram pup was in the trunk again, being quite the little photo model.
Yesterday I bought a stroller. Hold it, it's for the boat, the Trekko will take too much space I realized last time we went. And will be clumsy as hell to get to shore if you go to random islands without jetties.
Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space
Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space
Cost me 20€ and I thought it was fair.
Then I tried to lay pup down in it... that bumper-bar apparently flexes if you kick it *groan* so imagine this picture with about 9,5kilo pup kicking away. Yup, a slide. Didn't feel good. As long as he didn't kick it was good enough.
I put some duct tape to firm up the footrest and sold it at the back hatch flea market we attended today, for 20€
Missed taking any pictures though.
Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space
What really sucks is that I sat up until 1:30 am last night/this morning, sewing pram curtains to sell today. NO ONE was even interested (or maybe one, she wanted a cheaper one though, maybe if she bought the fabric herself...)
That really feels like crap, being this tired and worn out to NO GOOD!
And I honestly don't think 20€ is overpriced. I was going with 10 or 15 at first, then I remembered how I calculated my actual costs to be around 18€ around the time when I made my first...
But I'm kinda glad no one bought this one, 'cos it turned out so gorgeous that I want it for myself =)
Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space
While blogging this, pup was in his jumpy. Suddenly it stopped and he was still quiet. My little sweetheart had fallen asleep in the middle of jumping ♥

splash-osaurus...
After grandma's pool being such a big hit, and our apartment being the equivalent of a sauna, the gnuffer's mom got him a pool for his own home too.
A giraffe pool...
It had balls with bells in them. The puffy "mushrooms" in the pic above contained 2 jingle-balls each...
The bubble fishes were mighty fun (he kept making pouty faces when the camera was out, and smiled dazzlingly when it was away)
and the funnies toy award goes to... the food freezing bucket!

Granny's pool
You wet yet?
Splashing at grandma's makes for a knocked out puppy...
Today we have an ice cream date with one of my friends, the co-worker. Well, puppy won't get no ice cream but the mommy can eat for the both of them *grin*

my heart is home ♥
After 22 hours away from us, we were mighty excited when pup came home. He, on the other hand, couldn't care less obviously.... Now he's asleep in his bed, and it feels right. Very right.
home alone...
Well, not really, but sort of. Because there's no puppy in the house. The Gnuffer is currently terrorizing his grandmother, and though I am up now (7 am) and was awake around 4:30, it's divine to not have to hear any crying and not have to go up, just roll over and fall asleep again.
Yesterday wasn't difficult one bit, I mean, he goes to sleep early and then stays that way for the rest of the evening, but I admit I had to go sniff his pillow at one occasion...
They're coming in to town this afternoon, when they feel for it, in such time that granny can go to the bank before it closes, but that's all that is planned. Right now I don't miss him (YET!) but it is a bit quiet around here, no "bounce, bounce, bounce" in the background while the daily surf is taken care of.
And it's beyond divine to not wake up to the sound of puppy-cries, but by yourself.

early mornings...
the sleep longer plan is so far a fail.
we've tried keeping the gnuffer up longer, but somehow that's resulted in him waking up in the middle of the night, and even if he gets the bottle then, he wakes up not long after 5am *groan*
today we're going to my youngest nephew's birthday party, he turns teenager ♥

sleeping in
after som quarel about the sleeping issue, around 4 am to 5:30, pup fell asleep again, and we didn't wake until 7:30. me really, really likes. Of course, this meant all routine times were off, but that's OK. We'll try to keep him up a little longer tonight, and see if he sleeps longer tomorrow as well.
Seems like the light-blocking curtains work =)
