Happy Thanksgiving

to those who celebrate this holiday =)

I don't, but will take the opportunity to say my thanks anyway.
I'm thankful for:
  • my husband and son
  • my mother (whom I wouldn't have survived the last 2 weeks without)
  • the rest of the family and friends that surround us
  • that all the above are healthy (though one could seriously doubt the mental health of some)
  • the house we live in, the food in the fridge and the employment I have
  • living in a country with this kind of social protection network
  • all the amazingly talented people that keep coming my way

bath-time

Last week it was time for a bath. And he seemed to accept it, there was no screaming.

Some other news. We've resorted to formula in the nights, since apparently the reason he keeps screaming and eating was because he was hungry. Seems I don't have enough "umph" in my milk, at least not when he's constantly eating. When there's a few hours in between I think it's acceptable.

Tomorrow D goes to work for the weekend, only 3 days but it's better than nothing, and we have a mommy-group meeting.
Saturday me and Linus are going to Jan Karlsgården for the annual "Little-Christmas Market" and then either Saturday or Sunday we'll be baking gingerbread cookies with grandma.

we got mail =)

Lily sent a little package for Linus, thank you my lovely!

I was going to load pictures but this stupid site refuses. Or well, it loads them but refuses to post them in my post... That annoys me. A lot!

Zzzzz....

I should go back to bed...
But there's so much checking up to do...
Yesterday was a feeding-day. Meaning Linus ate constantly, at least it felt like it. He wouldn't sleep more than max ½ an hour and then he wanted more food. I was planted in the sofa for 6 hours or so. But he slept the whole night anyway. Good puppy, knowing the difference between night and day. But he could take a bit longer naps during the day so mommy could get some sleep too...

I'll try to load some new pictures next time I update!

someone's growing...

Linus have gained 325 grams since we left the delivery ward. That's approx 0.717 pounds
weight: 3,325 kilos
length: 53,2 cm

Mommy's weight: -11,3 kilos and HB-level: 121

When leaving we met one of the nurses attending the delivery and she was so happy to see our little prince again. Usually they don't see them again after they go home, unless they get siblings and come visit.

update

for those who speak/read Swedish and are interested, the delivery-story is now posted here but I warn you, it's very long and contains all the details I can remember. I will write it up in English as well when I have the time, but it felt more important to get it down once first. The memory is already fading so much. It's so easy for me to see exactly how far I got at the hospital before we went home and what I've been struggling to get out of my head these last two days.
Oh well, it is what it is.

Linus have slept good the last 3 nights, but I'm still tired =) I guess it comes with the new "job". Tomorrow we have a check-up at the hospital and I'm really curious to find out how much he's grown. I can see for myself that his cheeks are a lot rounder than when he was born. And with the amount he's been eating, I wouldn't be surprised if he landed around 3,5kg is weight...

no time

sorry for the lack of updates, but pup doesn't agree with sleeping at night. He eats and cries. And during the day, when he sleeps I try to sleep to, but I gotta get food into myself and then there's a few other things one have to do during office hours as well...

We're alive, all is well, computer is just at the bottom of the priority-list right now, somewhere around re-arranging the living room and tidying up the attic storage room.

pictures...

I won't write much, I know what you really want is pictures. Will give all details about the delivery when the baby-blues has blown over and D's back home.
Some small facts though:
name: Linus
weight: 3180 gr (~7,2pounds)
length: 50,5 cm (~19,9 inches)
time of birth: 13:15 GMT+2
delivery length: from first notice till pup was out 24h, but from 5-8 minutes between contractions and going to the hospital it was only 3,5h. When we decide to finally arrive, we do it in full throttle...

A very happy daddy and a very newborn pup

Awww...

Snoozing...

the prettiest eyes ever seen

bed-mates

oiling pup's very dry feet. Not popular I might add...

we have a picture or two...

watch me boxing...

the men in my life

cousin Nea

Snoozing in the crook of daddy's arm

just love the expression

We only had an inherited pink blanket at home to wrap him up in. Doesn't matter, real men can wear pink and not look silly. Granted, my pup is the first one I've seen to prove that thesis...

The overall Maria sent was a bit big, but still the smallest we had at home...

Luckily my sister had this saved from her last kid. Little froggy...

+4...

Father's Day today... and no pup in sight... *sigh*

Oh, well. I guess shim has 3 more days before D goes to work. I hope shim makes it, 'cos I really don't wanna be alone with me, myself and I if pup hasn't arrived. Will be a very sad and mopey congregation of personalities living in this apartment then.

Hands are a bit better, YAY! and mom finished a pair of wrist-warmers for me last night, YAY! She did it since I was supposed to knit them myself, but the wrists started aching (and then the stabbing pain started) that I couldn't even finish a row... My mom's the best!

+3...

What's the first I read when I logg on today?
That one of the two other November-preggos that I chatted the night away with (ending around 1AM) have woken up at 4AM, her water breaking... And she's now in the delivery ward, surfing for free with her student pass on their wireless internet.
UNFAIR!!! She's not due for another 7 days!
*mumble grumble*
Of course I'm happy for her, I'm just incredibly jealous! And I know myself well enough to admit it. And I want my pup... *pleads* Please puppy, come out now. Mommy wanna meet you...

+2... nothing

I don't really intend on doing a post at the beginning of the day and then another at the end, so when I don't do it tomorrow it's not because I'm in the delivery-ward but because we're going to the in-laws for dinner.

This now is because I just remembered that I asked the nurse about internet accessibility at the hospital, and unfortunately there is 1, ONE, computer that's hooked up (and available for patients) and that is in the basement, in the hospital library. With my luck it will be too old/crappy/shielded to accept a USB-wire and therefor pictures and updates will have to wait until we're home again.
Just so you all know.

At the moment I don't think D will leave us at all while we're in the hospital, 'cos there seems to be some ado about his paternity-leave stuff. Like, he's working on a Swedish boat aka working in Sweden aka Swedish system. BUT, has he worked long enough to be allowed to register? They weren't sure... and if he is allowed to register, it could take up to a year for all the paperwork to go through. UGH!
Gonna go see the people at FPA (who takes care of the Finnish system) on Monday.

+2...

*sigh*
Well, I suppose I better come to terms with not giving birth to a baby but a small child.
No plans for today, and that's never good. Leaves way too much time to think about things one should really keep ones head away from.

+1... nothing

Just feeling sad.
Seriously, reading (and hearing) how others are being treated when they reach due-date just makes me feel unimportant.
Like it doesn't matter that I passed.
Like it doesn't matter that pup's already big and growing bigger by the minute.
Like it doesn't matter that I've said/written that I'm scared of rapturing, which is more likely with a big baby.

I wish I wasn't me and could just have started crying or something in there. Maybe that would have gotten across to her? I don't do "girl in need", I don't show weakness unless I'm really broke down. I wait until I'm alone and then let the panic just wash over me until it passes. Right now I'm about knee deep in panic, but when the tide comes in it goes way higher...

+1...

overtime...
It sucks!

It's snowing outside and it doesn't even make me smile. if you know me even a little you know I usually run around screaming and singing of joy when the first snow comes. I love snow. Now all I can think is that I'll freeze my ass of while cleaning up the balcony and laying out the floor.

Nurses app:
Blood pressure 120/80
weight -1 kilo
SF measure 36 (same as the last 2 weeks)
pup's heart rate 137
estimated weight 3,9 kilos (8,5 pounds...)
head down and she was almost sure it was fixated
I got a new app for next week, but to the nurse I traded away =( because "my" nurse was already fully booked. Then in 2 weeks time I'll have an over-bearing control and if all looks well they'll wait some more. It could very well take 3 more weeks before I have my little cub in my arms =(

Every ting just sucks!"

time's run out...

There will officially be no pup today.
Because I highly doubt that I'll go from nil to birth in 4 hours.
And it sucks!

time's up...

and is there a baby in my arms? No!
Is there something going on in my body that might imply something'll happen within 17 hours? NO!

OK, I'm done with being preggo. I wanna meet my pup. NOW!

Got a nurses appointment in 1½ hour, wonder if she'll find anything interesting.
Everything's done at home, except the cleaning up on the balcony which I intend to do today. Then lay out the floor (that better get the show on the road) and bring up the "new" pram. D took it pretty well, but he got that really tired look and tone of voice. I understand him since I kinda feel the same way. But still I don't regret it. The old beloved egg can be a decoration inside at mom's place. I bet pup'll need to sleep while we're there too.

1 day...

Oh yeah! One more day baby, then you're just like the rest of the family... LATE! What does that show for the world? Being late for the first time before you're even born? Th-th-th...

I have a confession to make...
I've been (second hand) shopping again... And I'll probably get into trouble for it too... 'Cos I bought a pram... A Brio from the late 70's or early 80's, not really sure yet, but I intend to consult some experts in the area (there really are people anal enough about vintage prams to be able to tell you the exact year of an old pram from just the color and clasps... scary...)

This one is intended for the balcony, because no matter how much I LOVEthe green old egg-pram, I fear it will take harm from standing out on the balcony in the winter (with moist and sub-zero temperatures) and it's been eating at me for a while. So when I saw this I started thinking. I've been brooding over it since yesterday when I saw it at Cirkeln, but after consulting my delivery-thread I decided to go for it. Couldn't wait much longer either since then it would have been gone. 15€, so it wasn't a fortune spent in any way. It's just the concept of this many prams that bothers me a little. But not as much as it would have to have the beloved pram going bad from standing out in the cold.

2 days...

had acupuncture at noon today, unfortunately I'm beginning to suspect the nurse screwed up, 'cos I've had almost worse pains ever since =(
I'll see how the night goes, otherwise I'll have to call the midwife and ask her what to do.
Figured I'd treat you guys to some more pictures.

Mom knits and I sew =)

Mr. Longears tried out the crib

And his smaller relative get to sleep in it =) And isn't Puh and Tigger just adorable?

Where in our bedroom the crib is. Good thing we don't have a bigger bed =)

Tummy today, at 39 weeks and 4 days...

3 days...

Anyone excited just yet? =)
There sure are con's to having D staying the night (Sundays the ferry leaves at noon, so he came home last night) such as:
  • I'm NOT allowed to sleep in the middle of the bed. He insists he's intitled to half of the space...
  • I'm NOT allowed to sleep on top of his duvet. I told him he could borrow pup's...
  • I'm sure there were more things than this... Oh, whatever.
Yesterday was "All Saints Day/Eve", I did a crappy translate because this our holiday is very different from Halloween. It's a day to remember those you've lost. We also light candles on the graves and such. I figured I'd show you those I lit candles for this year.

Dad, accompanied by one of the hunting dogs. It was taken years before he got sick, but this was how dad always looked. Happiest when he was in the woods with the dogs, hunting.

Grandma and grandpa. Unfortunately I don't have any good pictures of them together, from before grandpa got too sick to live at home.

On a somewhat less grim and somber note, mom have knitted a few hats for the pup (I wonder how many heads she thinks pup will have...) and I decided to post some pictures of them

This one she bought the pattern and material for at the sewing fair. They had it on a shelf and it was just adorable! Though in this size it's almost more worm than hat...

Baby hat #1, if you use multi-colored yarn you don't have to make a pattern.

Baby hat #2, because #1 can't be used for a boy since it has pink dots... This though is unisex

All three hats, and the helping orange. You see how the hats are all sunk in? Well, I filled them out with the orange, and that also gives you a bit of a size measure...
