gratitude

I don't say this nearly enough, but I am sincerely thrilled about the amount of support I get from our family now that hubs is away. they have pup over night when I have stuff to do (which this month have been all but one weekend), they have him when they have a day off, they take him when they get of work early, they watch him so I can go do aqua-gym (which right now is the only exercise I get)

I am so grateful that words are not enough, they make our life so much easier. I am fully aware how lucky I am, you cannot visit any kind of gathering without there being a lonely mother (or father) without any support or backup.

I do consider pup my responsibility, and of course I would prefer to have him home with me at all times, still... A day of with grandpa usually means he needs to go there the day before, or we'd have to get up at unholy hours to make the change. And I know I sometimes think I "should" be a "good mother" and be able to do it all by myself.
But I am aware of my limits, and I try in all to do what is best for pup. It burns in my soul when people talk about early daycare in early ages can damage the connection to the parents. Still I feel that me and pup has a good connection, that we're not just living together, but that there's more.

go fucking figures...

Hubs called today. He sounded really down, and with what he had to tell I really understand him. The company forces him to stay on that ship for another week, so that instead of coming home early April, he's now due home the night between the 11th and the 12th. And due to some iffy loophole, they don't even have to pay him extra because he's forced to stay longer.
I was so looking forward to just one more weekend before he comes home. And that weekend is both Sweden+Ikea, and babyswim so it should run smoothly.
So this really feels like crap.

the new for us sofa

This is how the manufacturer have presented it somewhere online. It's called Ikea Backa

And at our place, it looks like this =)
One of the seat-pillows is missing it's cover, and all the back-cushions are missing, but that's OK. it cost me 40€ so I'm happy. I'm gonna replace the missing pillow-cover someday, when I find the right fabric, but for now it just get to live under some of our bed sets. And the nupper-pupper likes the easier access to a whole lote more DVD's... *GAH!!!*

what moms do when the puppies sleep

They watch a movie, while they surf the net, facebook and update their blog. All whilst they're also working on their counted cross stitch embroidery. On even weave...

picture, pup and a new handbag

Whilst sorting at the charity I found us some nice rubber boots. And though I bought him a new pair only days before, I took these as well. For only 3€ /pair I thought it was wise. Now he has a pair at daycare, a pair at home and a pair to pee in (yeah... don't ask about that) The white pair looked really handsome after I cleaned them up a bit.

The funniest part of a box full of Duplo...

Mom said I had lost a lot of "face-weight", as usual, I don't see it.

Nuffer usually stands in front of the TV watching it, but when I made a "cough" on the floor he sat there happily, also bounced around in it occasionally (of course) but over all seemed happy for it. I might have to consider getting him something to sit in, or make something.

Last Saturday, when we had our mommy-date-at-night, one of the mom's had a -huge- handbag, from with she then produced her smaller handbag, her cardigan, her drink and so on. i fell in love, being the one who always have a bag for my shoes, and then my purse, and then my cardigans and then... (you get the picture, I usually have mi tiny purse and a bag or two, don't look very nice if you're going out.

So yesterday it was sweeping the town for a bag. I pretty soon found one that was OK. The con's were
  • the size (not really as big as I had wanted)
  • the shoulderstrap/handle (one piece with the sides, just big enough to get over your arm and being carried over the shoulder, I feared if the bag was full, it would make my arm stick straight out to the side)
  • the sipper/opening being a tad bit narrow due to the reason described above.
And with a price tag of 47€ I want my bag to be more than just OK.

Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space

After searching all the town, not finding anything better/cheaper, I decided to settle. But I went in to the expensive jeans shop on a whim. Of course there were a huge bag. In leather. That was just right. And though it was almost double in price (89€) I bought it. It's a "brand" item, Fred Perry, not that I care, but I really feel I would use this one more than double as much as I would have the other one (because I didn't really like it) so I felt it was the better buy.

Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space

Here it is, stuffed with the blankie it lays on in the above pic, and I just stuffed it in, no folding, and the bag is really sagging because there's still room for another blankie in there...

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I found these while image googling "st. paddy dragon", and of course I loved them all too much to choose =)

pupless and fancy-free

Yup.
Pup is with his grandma and grandpa, so I have the evening to myself.
I'm putting it to good use by eating in peace (no one howling, wanting pieces from my platter) while watching a DVD box. Firefly

Other plans are some pajama-patching (how on earth that kid breaks the groin on his newer big jammies is beyond me), some other patching and then some slacking =)
And tomorrow when the nupper-pupper comes home, it's swimming time. Friday we plan on doing baby-music before going out to the grandparents, where the gnuffer will be while I cash in my gift-card from x-mas, a whole body massage with following dinner. Me likes =)

GAH!

Pup's asleep, we've had a good day/afternoon. No big issues though we stayed at home, which usually makes a certain little someone seriously cranky. Washed all the adult clothes in the hamper, only the pup-hamper left, but that's only half full so...
Hung said laundry and stuff. And just around bedtime for pup my head started to pound. and after 2 painkillers it still does. F%CK! I hate headaches with a vengeance!

I've spent more than my fair share of time having them and popping painkillers. It's not migraines, but migraine-like headaches. The fine difference is in the reason you have them. Where migraines in general is caused by high blood pressure in your head, mine isn't. Which also means that traditional migraine meds, which lowers the blood pressure in the head, don't work on me. Or well, they work all right, I just get really, really weird. My blood pressure is on the low mark of normal, so lowering it further makes me see ghosts. When I tried meds, I  actually sat down crying because people said "Good morning" to me, I thought they were being mean...
I just hope this dies out before morning. And I'm pissed because I can't really watch a movie in this condition =(

oh well...

last night was pup-free, and the intention was to end up dancing all night long.
That turned into fail, last people leaving around 11:30pm and  me doing the dishes then going to bed. Pup'll be arriving shortly, his grandparents will drop him of as they head for the cruise they're going on today. But did I sleep until 8:30 like I could have? (that's when they called that they were on their way) No, I woke up at 6:40 and couldn't fall asleep again. Now that is epic fail...

hub's away and mommy's selling prams

Hubs is down in Spain, trafficking between Algeciras and Ceuta (Marocco).
Apparently the straight of Gibraltar is wild, and they have to stow everything extra tight and tie it down 5 times more  than usually. Which means it takes longer. He's supposed to be of work at 7 pm, he called around 9, saying he had no time, they'd most likely work until 2 am tomorrow morning. And the fool was happy, because that means overtime, and overtime means more money. Yup, he's like that =)

Me, I sold the old crappy chassi that came with the aquamarine upholstery, and the marine bassinet that came with the classic chassi. As a set, as a balcony pram. Got 20€ for it. Good deal. Especially since it's been out on the sale-sites since November, and I've been meaning to bring it to the charity I sort at, but just keep forgetting, or I have pup and can't. And that's not all, an hour later, another guy called and asked about it. *LOL*

Pup. Well, he's been rocking daycare. Running ragged. And yesterday night  he slept all of it. I got to sleep from I went to bed until the buzzer sounded. Amazing feeling =) Let's try for a re-run tonight =)

getting better

Yesterday when I got of work we went to the Health-care Central. It has doctors and all, but don't do nothing more advanced than diagnoses and removing birthmarks. You need to be remitted by them to get to the hospital.
Anyway, D called them and asked, and they thought we should get in for either that nights open "ER" or the following morning. Since the tickets would start being distributed 45 minutes after our call and we were going grocery shopping anyway, we went.
We were second in line =)
We had to wait some, of course, they serve due to gravity of illness when a doc becomes available. Hubs got his vaccinations in order while we were there. Pup actually perked up a bit being out and about, but was still feverish and really tired. The doc had no problem knowing what the problem was. He coughed and wheezed and all that, but there were nothing in his pipes or lungs, and since D's had it all his childhood the diagnosis was fairly obvious. Croup, or pseudo/viral croup as it might still be called in parts of the world where Diphtheria is still the cause of "real croup".
I've (of course) spent th morning searching info about croup online.
He got a shot of 12 cortisone tablet resolved in water, and he drank it without any fuss at all. The doc said he'd start to get better in 1-2 hours, but already half an hour later I could hear it easing up.
He slept all night without a wheeze =) It was a joy to hear

So now on to happier(ish) topics =)

The other day was my Goddaughter's 6th birthday. Since pup was so sick with fever and all, we didn't go to the party, I did however stop by after work to give her the present we got her. A "Hello Kitty storage stool", all pink and that =) Me and D got cookies in a box, and to pup they sent balloons. He had the energy tho examine them for about 2 minutes. Poor pup.

Yesterday while shopping I came across a car that it breaks my heart to see.
Yeah, I bet you wonder about why, it's just a piece of crap.Thing is, 8 years ago when my cousin got his drivers license and started driving this car, it was exterior vise in perfect condition. He later sold it and it's been down hill from there. OK, so as far as engine goes, this car has been tricky at best, and more often then not really hopeless. For a while it's fav "party-trick" was stalling in the middle of crossroads...
This was my grandfathers car. He loved it dearly and cared for it meticulously. I remember him sitting outside on a lawn chair nitpicking every move I made as I washed and polished it, because his Parkinson was to bad for him to be able to do it himself.
And this fron is actually the prettier view of the car... From behind it wasn't even recognizable what model it was, and on the inside the interior was bust, like the cover for the rod to the steering wheel missing, all cables and stuff exposed. And just knowing how much my grandfather cherished this car, it physically hurts when I see it in this condition.

And last but not least, a silently snoozing pup is making out with his bunny in his sleep ♥

not so fun update

This week started out AWESOME! with a good nights sleep, amazing news from a friend that carried me through a lot of down-slopes at work, pup apparently loving being back at daycare, good b-day party a mother in law and hubs getting a job.

Then gravity came, pup got a really bad could, and have been coughing (badly), wheezing (really badly) and just been pitifully little and pupish.
Also, reality hit on the hubs/work thing. He leaves Monday. For a month.
And then the friends amazing news crashed and burned.
So I'm pretty much dreading tomorrow.

I really. really hope pup turns for the better now, because I need to sleep (he only sleeps well on my arm now, witch is cramped as hell since our bed is 1,2 meters wide (3,9 feet...)
My back and pelvis hurt worse than when I had just given birth. NOT LIKING!
