package and a "new" bed

The first day after x-mas we got a package from MistyThe humor was that it contained a baby handprint kit, and I had already decided to take pup's hand and footprints (with paint) that night. I only got his feet, 'cos he wasn't cooperating... But I'll get the hands another day. There was also a "brag book" and a Disney-kit with a frame, a box for first tooth and a box for first curl.

We've had to upgrade pup's sleeping quarters, since he kept doing these awful noises (in his sleep) but only in his bed, never in ours or anywhere else you laid him down.

Just to remind you what the old bed looked like, notice how Mr. Longears fill it out?
We went to Emmaus Möbelretur (a furniture second hand shop) last Monday, just to see when they'd be open (they've been closed Mondays before, and with the holidays and all) but they were open so we checked it out. Lucky we did! We found this:

It's a Baby Dan Classic and was tucked in behind a three-section bookshelf. After taking it out we realized one side was missing, and when asking the salesman he said that since it wasn't complete we'd get it for 5 €. Since we had no intention of using it with all 4 walls we happily accepted. Picture shows how we intended to use the bed, our only need was that the frame would be so made that you could lower or heighten the bottom, or at least that you could fix it to do so yourself. Now this made a perfect match, so we were really happy!

Do you notice Mr. Longears in the background? Closest to D... He's a little crumbled but you get the general idea of how much bigger this bed is =)

I will however go back and see if they find the last side of the crib, I think it's there since all screws were in the bed. I think it's just been misplaced. It could be good to have once pup starts rolling.

Christmas Eve

Today was nice. Pup dazzled everyone *DUH!*

Can you blame them for being dazzled? Mr. Handsome himself =)

Mommy and pup, daddy refused the hat so he was excluded...

And he was almost bigger than grandma's tree...

And got LOTS of presents. Thanks everyone! Now it's of to bed. If pup decides to sleep that is, he's done nothing but sleeping and eating all day, no kidding. Mom was even astounded by how he just ate and ate and ate... And she have had her fair share of insight to his gluttony before...

Merry Christmas

6 weeks ago something very, very precious came into my life. Well, he came into my life 9 months earlier, I just couldn't see him then, but anyways...

I thought I'd remind you of how little my puppy-love was then

compared to how chubby he is now

Now, ain't he dashing when all suited up?

And finally, Merry Christmas to you all! I hope it's a great one, and wish you all happiness and good health.

decorating the tree

First out:
SOB! I miss my sofa!
We needed floor space in the living room for pup, so one sofa had to go. Since mine was in a bad state when I bought it 6-7 years ago, we decided it was time to part. It would need new clothes if meant to stay, and I have no energy for that. So now my first piece of own furniture is gone. I miss it, the ones we still have are no way near as comfy.

And now to the x-mas tree...before decorations...

and after...

and with the lights...

And now for some of the decorations up close:

Bought in NYC on Pier 17 last year, when we were there on our honeymoon. Picture in the frame taken in Brooklyn Heights, with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

cancer SUCKS!!!

found out the other day, a week before Christmas that someone I know briefly (who lives with someone I know well) are very, very sick with cancer. Terminal cancer. Anyone's guess is as good as the doctors on how much time there's left.

2 kids (one of them only 6 months old) will loose their parent, 2 kids will loose their step-parent. It's so unfair that it's not real!

Cancer sucks whoever gets it, but this gave me icy chills down my spine when I heard. OK, dad and grandma both died in cancer (well, most of dad's older relatives did) but they were old. Dad was 60 and his mom well beyond that. It's different. It's still awful, but not as awful as this, not by miles.

My Christmas prayers and thoughts go out to this family, and I truly hope there will be a Christmas Miracle for them!

x-mas pictures

I'm trying to get pup to accept the wrap, and today we made another go at it. We took a walk on the town, a total of an hour in the wrap, and it went well.

And though he's a boy, the wrap is indeed pink. Well, in a small town you can't be too picky, they had no other color.

We're using pup as motive on the x-mas cards, and today was the photo-session...
Considering pup HATES! changing clothes; the flash & searchlight from the camera; to be laid down anywhere it went splendidly! A few sneak-peaks:

Seems like the bun in the owen was a gingerbread-baby

Someone got REALLY sick and tired of mommy and her cameras...

Look at me, look at me, I can lift my head... a little...

And in the end pup got so tired he fell asleep next to Mr. Longears

mail...

We got mail =)
First out was a package I had to go fetch at the customs, apparently it hadn't been labeled "gift" as it should have been. That was from London and the lexilovely Sarah

That reindeer is about as big as Linus...

Candy XD

The next package, arriving today, was from Neva who's currently overdue with her baby girl who was supposed to arrive in November. She was there for me the night I clocked contractions and paced a trench in the hallway...

Socks (with kitty-cats) for me, socks for pup, a bracelet, tissues, matching hoodie and matching pants for pup, a key chain pig for D and a card.

THANK YOU GIRLS!!!!

Linus goes abroad

today was shopping in Sweden. We came home with lots of diapers, some food and a nursing sweater for me. travel was no problem and I carried Linus when we weren't in the car, using either my hands/arms or the Ella Roo baby wrap (though I tied mine differently)

pictures another day, I have a restless baby in my arms...

Happy Thanksgiving

to those who celebrate this holiday =)

I don't, but will take the opportunity to say my thanks anyway.
I'm thankful for:
  • my husband and son
  • my mother (whom I wouldn't have survived the last 2 weeks without)
  • the rest of the family and friends that surround us
  • that all the above are healthy (though one could seriously doubt the mental health of some)
  • the house we live in, the food in the fridge and the employment I have
  • living in a country with this kind of social protection network
  • all the amazingly talented people that keep coming my way

bath-time

Last week it was time for a bath. And he seemed to accept it, there was no screaming.

Some other news. We've resorted to formula in the nights, since apparently the reason he keeps screaming and eating was because he was hungry. Seems I don't have enough "umph" in my milk, at least not when he's constantly eating. When there's a few hours in between I think it's acceptable.

Tomorrow D goes to work for the weekend, only 3 days but it's better than nothing, and we have a mommy-group meeting.
Saturday me and Linus are going to Jan Karlsgården for the annual "Little-Christmas Market" and then either Saturday or Sunday we'll be baking gingerbread cookies with grandma.

we got mail =)

Lily sent a little package for Linus, thank you my lovely!

I was going to load pictures but this stupid site refuses. Or well, it loads them but refuses to post them in my post... That annoys me. A lot!

Zzzzz....

I should go back to bed...
But there's so much checking up to do...
Yesterday was a feeding-day. Meaning Linus ate constantly, at least it felt like it. He wouldn't sleep more than max ½ an hour and then he wanted more food. I was planted in the sofa for 6 hours or so. But he slept the whole night anyway. Good puppy, knowing the difference between night and day. But he could take a bit longer naps during the day so mommy could get some sleep too...

I'll try to load some new pictures next time I update!

someone's growing...

Linus have gained 325 grams since we left the delivery ward. That's approx 0.717 pounds
weight: 3,325 kilos
length: 53,2 cm

Mommy's weight: -11,3 kilos and HB-level: 121

When leaving we met one of the nurses attending the delivery and she was so happy to see our little prince again. Usually they don't see them again after they go home, unless they get siblings and come visit.

update

for those who speak/read Swedish and are interested, the delivery-story is now posted here but I warn you, it's very long and contains all the details I can remember. I will write it up in English as well when I have the time, but it felt more important to get it down once first. The memory is already fading so much. It's so easy for me to see exactly how far I got at the hospital before we went home and what I've been struggling to get out of my head these last two days.
Oh well, it is what it is.

Linus have slept good the last 3 nights, but I'm still tired =) I guess it comes with the new "job". Tomorrow we have a check-up at the hospital and I'm really curious to find out how much he's grown. I can see for myself that his cheeks are a lot rounder than when he was born. And with the amount he's been eating, I wouldn't be surprised if he landed around 3,5kg is weight...

no time

sorry for the lack of updates, but pup doesn't agree with sleeping at night. He eats and cries. And during the day, when he sleeps I try to sleep to, but I gotta get food into myself and then there's a few other things one have to do during office hours as well...

We're alive, all is well, computer is just at the bottom of the priority-list right now, somewhere around re-arranging the living room and tidying up the attic storage room.

pictures...

I won't write much, I know what you really want is pictures. Will give all details about the delivery when the baby-blues has blown over and D's back home.
Some small facts though:
name: Linus
weight: 3180 gr (~7,2pounds)
length: 50,5 cm (~19,9 inches)
time of birth: 13:15 GMT+2
delivery length: from first notice till pup was out 24h, but from 5-8 minutes between contractions and going to the hospital it was only 3,5h. When we decide to finally arrive, we do it in full throttle...

A very happy daddy and a very newborn pup

Awww...

Snoozing...

the prettiest eyes ever seen

bed-mates

oiling pup's very dry feet. Not popular I might add...

we have a picture or two...

watch me boxing...

the men in my life

cousin Nea

Snoozing in the crook of daddy's arm

just love the expression

We only had an inherited pink blanket at home to wrap him up in. Doesn't matter, real men can wear pink and not look silly. Granted, my pup is the first one I've seen to prove that thesis...

The overall Maria sent was a bit big, but still the smallest we had at home...

Luckily my sister had this saved from her last kid. Little froggy...
