Aoooooooooo...
It's been another howling-day.
Only difference from last time was that today I knew why. Pup's a little constipated, poor thing. Or constipated might not be the right word, but his diarrhea has dried up and I would say that he's fairly normal. Pooping every 2-3 days, not very much. But for him it's a huge difference, now he has to work it out, and he never had to do that before. I think it's very uncomfortable for him, and I think it hurts too since again tonight he screamed so much that he resisted food.
And then I made it worse... Someone said to put "messmör" in the bottle, but I don't have that, so I figured, maybe some plum-puree would work just as well. Said and done. And pup started eating and refused the bottle. And refused and refused. I went and gave him a painkiller and he still refused it. Then I checked the bottle. Plum-residue that wasn't tiny enough was blocking the hole in the teat. So I poured it out ad made new, and since I'm so bright, I put in pear-puree this time, since that was so runny it was like water. Same result, and a very, very unhappy puppy.
So I remembered having one pack of ready formula in the nursing bag (I had just boiled up water, but it takes forever to cool) but stupid as I am, I mixed in some of the "pear-formula" to heat it. Same result all again.
Then I came to my senses and poured it all out and mixed new formula for him. Can you even imagine how relived my poor pup was when there finally came food when he suckled the bottle?
Just to point out, my actions didn't seem this stupid whilst I was doing them (over and over again...) I just wanted to give him something to move his tummy.

crafty... ish =)
I know I said mad hatter post, but I failed. Instead I finished up the curtain I need for tomorrow, patched up a teddybear and did some other sewing as well.
Yesterday was spent at mom's. Here's pup sleeping on the porch. The blinding white in the background is the sea.
I made this one yesterday. It's made out of an inherited PJ that had broke in the seams. I made it mostly to try out the pattern I made. I wonder what it is with my hats that make pup look so mischievous...
It has a little bit of a peak.
and just a few minutes ago I finished the matching droolie. Once more I was trying out the pattern but pup's asleep so fitting will have to wait until tomorrow. It has fleece on the backside. This is a good thing, 'cos at the moment pup drools at the equivalent of the Niagara Falls...
daycare
I was originally going to make todays entry a mad hatter one...
But we called the daycare we were assigned, and are going to visit them on Friday. D also called the people who are in charge of distributing the daycare placements and talked for quite some time.
Turns out she remembered pup, and had really investigated every possibility, and what we got was the best/only option. The one we really wanted was slam-packed-overfilled with "sibling privileges", meaning you get to have your child there 'cos the older sibling already are. She did however put a note in the system, so that if a slot gets free (aka someone quits or don't accept their placement) pup's first in line.
What all this means is that nothing's changed, but I feel better knowing why the situation is the way it is. Hopefully D's working-scheme has changed or he's in school, then the opening time isn't such an issue. Apparently none of the towns daycare centers open before 7:30, which I think is outrageous, I know heck lot of people who begin work prior to that! Oh well...
There might be a mad hatter entry before the day is over though =)

poster boy
Pup poses in his mom's latest creations
The first hat came out "a bit" big (and actually fit around his mothers head)
And the ski-hat was no better, should fit around the time he's 4...
so for the ordered hat the model was slimmed down a bit, still a bit roomy, but that was intended as to last the coming fall as well
the ski-hat was also made in a smaller size and made for a perfect fit, though the cuff around the face came out a bit loose, but not so much to need correcting.
it was actually so much fun making the ski-hats that I needed to make an extra one =) And this time everything came out perfect. Size, fit, cuff everything!
Though this one isn't for my pup, I think that would send his father into cardiac arrest *eyeroll* or at least give him a brain hemorrhage.

mad hatter =)
now I'm done with the extra hat I was making. And maybe I'll do one or two for a friend in the US, need to consider pattern for that one. Hat's are fun =)
All this, 4 hats so far, started with the plan to make one...
The pram-curtains are coming along slowly, but there's only the eyelets left, so I guess it can be called progress.
Tomorrow you'll get pic's of pup-in-hats

Blah!
Today started out with pup waking up a little before 6am... and not falling asleep again... He was fairly content (read didn't scream too loud) until just after 8, so then I fed him, packed him up and out into the pram.
We ran some errands and do you think he fell asleep? No. He finally fell asleep 10 to 10, and I continued walking. But he woke up about 10:15 so we turned home to fix a little, feed the mom, feed the pup and then move on to baby-swim.
He was tired but still did great. Today was testing life-jackets and more diving. Grandma joined us, and she got to see the splish-splash monster in action.
But then he got really tired and cried and cried... It took a while and suddenly he was out like a light. I walked...
About an hour later he woke up and we headed home. Only problem was, no matter what I did, he kept crying. In the end he got a Panadol (kinda like Tylenol) because he cried so much that he refused the bottle. If you know anything about my pup, you know he never, ever, turns away from anything edible...
Now that he's asleep I need to clean up the house, J and her little girl N comes over tomorrow. But I feel so utterly uninspired. I even considered texting her, asking if we could meet on town just so I could ignore the tidying. But I came to my senses. Café's and 2 babies+prams don't really work if you wanna talk to someone and so forth. Plus, there isn't a coffee shop in this town that has anything remotely like a nursing table, they mean you can use the floor... Well, I could. If they'd bother to mop them more often than once a year...
And then I surf around some, and gets it smacked in my face that what was once a great friendship is no more. Not that I either believe nor hope that it will go back to what it was, but did I really mean that little? It just goes to show that she really was much talk and little popcorn. But it's still sad.
You never get so big that it doesn't hurt to loose a friend...

Purée-eyebrow...
Plum-purée is something pup likes. He even dives at the spoon...
Today we've been out at mom's, helping her with the gardening. I decided to bring out the pram so pup could be with us. Isn't he gorgeous?
Not that he complied with sitting alone for long, then he and grandma just supervised =) while I raked and raked and raked...

I treated myself to a new fabric scissor. I'm in love =)

And this is my pile for the evening...
3 pram curtains, 2 pup-hats and 1 hat for a friends little girl.

daycare =(
We got the decision for pup's daycare the coming fall, last week. I wasn't too happy about it, but decided to speak with them first. Today I did and now I'm divided again. They open 7:30 and not a second sooner, which gives me trouble 'cos I now have aprox 20 minutes by bike to work and this is maybe 5 minutes more away. That means I'll have to use the car and then the fuel-bill will skyrocket... I hate this...
We're going there for a visit next week, but I just don't know... It all depends on what D does when the time comes. *sigh*

they're insane!
E-mailed a bit with my sister this morning. She told me that the ice broke of by their shore last Saturday. Come Sunday and the kids took their first bath in the sea for the year...
I may have been crazy in my days, but never that crazy! ♥

candy by mail =)
A few days before Easter I won a pack of ecological candy at one of my communities (familjeliv.se) and it arrived today. So far I've tried 2 sorts, out of 5, and they were really good =)
I think D will get the licorice though *uäck*

Fit for fight again
As I suspected (and hoped) my stomach flu was like it usually is, those rare times that I get it. It lasted the night, left me exhausted the next day and now I'm perfectly fine =)
I did some sewing yesterday while pup was bouncing like crazy in his swing. I made this, mainly. Anyone wanna take a guess at what it is? =)
Edit:: Picture removed due to lack of space
I'm debating with myself whether I should have some sort of competition here, and as a price use one of the spare pram curtains. What do you (3?) readers think? Silly or would you like me to do that?

stomach flu and the arrival of Mortimer
Yep, I struck luck and came down with stomach flu the night to Friday. Yippee, or not....
Pup was however great, seemingly understood that mommy wasn't feeling so well and was really a great sport with me not having any energy whatsoever. He even accepted being laid down on the floor. But the smile on his face when D came home and had a libero-package with him, which contained "Mortimer the moose" was evident; mommy had been boring...
I was surprised because I thought he would be about half that size =)
Funny faces...
Öööh...
It wasn't me...

Antilop cushion
I told you how I wasn't very creative the other day. Here's the result:
First he was rattling around with no pillow at all...
We had one Ikea Antilop highchair and a pillow. The pillow was a bit big though and Pup wasn't really comfy, being pushed into a forward leaning position.

So, I made a cushion after a free pattern found on BurdaStyle (which is why I do not tutorial this) with a slight modification of adding 5cm to the end of the seat and sides. You need to be a member, but that took 5 minutes to become and was free so...
And then I made a supportive cushion from a leftover foam mattress, 40cmx15cm and covered it with the same fabric as the seat.
And now my little pup sits like a prince ♥

How to make a pram curtain
Hur man gör ett barnvagns draperi
OBSERVE! Please, choose a loosely woven or thin fabric, a tight weave will stop the airflow and means the used air stays inside the canopy.
OBS!!!
1)
Trace your canopy on a paper. If you can't remove it it's a bit trickier but not imposible
2)
Decide how long you want it, and measure down. Remember to allow for the hem. Then cut a few centimeters away from the pattern, I used 5cm allowance.
3)
Now line the edge with interfacing of choice, and then iron it on (use a wet/damp cloth in between to prevent the interfacing from attaching to the iron)
Using small pieces and patching them together works perfectly. They will forge together when ironed on.
4)
Zig-zag the edge, all the way around. If you want to, you can turn the seam inside before stitching up the hem. Then turn the rest of the zig-zag'ed edges inwards (it's easiest if you both pin AND iron) and stitch them down with straight seam. Fold the interfacing double (I didn't, beginners mistake, and it gives a bit of trouble as shown below), you might have to cut to make it round nicely, but that's OK, the interfacing prevents the fabric from fraying.
5)
Pin the fold down and make a seam either in the outer edge or at the overlapping sections (it depends on how the fold looks what works best) from the front of the fabric. Then sew along the inner edge, still from the front of the fabric, to keep the interfacing in place. Then punch holes evenly spaced out, you'll need 5 or 7, and place eyelets in them. Mine were 9mm in diameter
Here you see that my fold have caused too straight edges/loss of roundness and allows sun to peek in.
TADAA!
Use either baby-toy rings (I used Tiny Love Ring Set) or any shower curtain rings that are sturdy enough. Just keep in mind that if the shower-rings are thicker that 8mm the money saved might be eaten up by the fact that bigger eyelets are more expensive...
It also works on car-seats with a canopy, and on the handlebar of models not as bulgy as my Graco. Very nice if you're driving in the day and don't want the sun to bother your baby through the window, without obstructing your view.

Creative much?
Not me...
We got the Ikea Antilop highchar home last Monday, pup loves it by the way. I decided to sew my own cushion, rather than buying Ikea's. Here's where my lack of creativity came in... I googled for patterns *hangs head in shame* and found one on BurdaStyle that was nice. I will modify it a little though, since it doesn't have side cushions...

Happy Easter April Fools =)
Today was spent in Norrtälje, spending a fortune on diapers, but not as big of a fortune it would have cost to buy them here. Came hone, exhausted and mind blown.
Made a easter-cake.
Tomorrow morning we're leaving for Kumlinge and Pup's great grandma. See you when the egg-eating's subsided =) I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
