on my way

So, finally, I'm going to get my tattoo.
At noon today I'm getting a bit more ink'ed =)

It is the snowflake, and funniest thing is that the local studio called last week, after 2 months of thinking (when he said he'd call me the same day) and said he'd do it, but with modifications. i just said "Sorry dude, I've got XX at XX doing it next Tuesday, so I think I'll skip you" He got a bit shocked apparently =) Serves him right =)

the time for my snowflake tattoo is now set!

October 19, a Tuesday, at noon, I will be tattooed by Jeppe at East Street Tattoo.
I had a e-mail convo with him about the unfortunate events last time, and he was being very nice. He apologized (which was really all I wanted, some recognition that what happened wasn't OK) and then offered to tattoo me himself, for a very good price. Apparently he is high in demand and quite tricky to get an appointment with (so I've heard) because he picks his clients carefully, and only do what he "wants" to do. But I've seen his work, and though the motives ain't my peiece of pie, the quality of them cannot be denied.

is it really so appalling?

So, the tattoo parlor in Stockholm gave me the transfer (the one they use when tattooing)  and told me to place it and "feel" it.

The lower of the previous flakes apparently need to be filled in, I didn't know that. Obviously I do not see my flakes, and I don't really need to. But I don't want them fading just because of that.

I just don't see why nobody wants to do it.

I am also prepared to do only the flake, but the plan has been for a few years to to some stuff around them, when I have a couple more. Now I found the perfect pattern and wants it. This theme of swirls and sparkles would surround the rest of the snowfall as well, though probably it will be done every third one or so, to get a good flow, to tie them all together nicely.

If you wanna see the placing in person, find me tomorrow or the next day, the color seems reluctant to leave (I tried scrubbing because it got smeared). However the pattern isn't really that good looking anymore, but you get the general idea.


So, tell me your honest opinion about this tattoo-to-be;

OK, so he got a good deal on it.
Still don't excuse the fact that it's totally geeky to buy the 10 disc "final frontier" remastered movies. Especially since we already have 6 or 7 of them.
Admittedly, some in quite poor condition, probably being the first releases on DVD, and non except the one released last year in remastered/high resolution.


Visited the local tattoo parlor today, to get a hunch of what price he would take. Well, he said he'd have to think about it, but that if he'd have to give an answer straight up, it would be "No, he wouldn't do it." Which is fair enough. I don't mind it when it's said up straight like that. He said he's call me tonight to let me know, but it's 7pm and he hasn't called, so I don't have high hopes. Also, I didn't quite "feel" the guy, or rather, my first impression was that I didn't like him, he appeared snotty and "on his high horses".

Apart from that I'm spending my evening curing my running nose and soar throat by eating chocolate. It might not help the issues at hand (come to think of it, I've read somewhere that chocolate makes a soar throat worse) but it makes the rest of me feel better =)

shopping without pup

Pup's been living the sweet life with his grandparents today, probably been so spoiled rotten he'll refuse to come home, and me and hubs went to Stockholm to shop. As we were childless, and had time to kill, I figured I'd check what tattoo parlors had drop-in. Turned out, one I've heard so much great stuff about, East Street Tattoo, had Fridays as drop-in day, when one or two guys were doing smaller projects.
Perfect for me who knows exactly what I want, and just wanna change artist.
We went there as soon as we came of the bus, it took a while but then we were there. The line inside reached the door, so we stayed outside. A car stopped, asking if it wasn't opened, and when we said "No, but it was a line right up to the door so we're waiting outside" he started almost bouncing. Turned out it was the owner =)

I got my time after a bit of discussion about the image, and the went to do the rest of our shopping since the appointment was at half past three, and this happened before 11. We found kids tattoos (rub-ons) that you could write the parents phone-numbers on, after visiting 2 stores we found a Teutonia all-weather protection, the last one in the city. Hubs found himself two pairs of jeans and a pair of Ecco shoes. We also had lunch at a chines/mongolian place that served one of the best sushi's I've ever had.

We went back to the studio in good time, chatted with the desk manager and waited. While waiting I borrowed their bathroom. GORGEOUS!  Seriously, it was one of the nicest bathrooms I've ever been in, and I am including people's homes here...

But... then comes the artist taking care/tattooing todays drop-in's and asks where the flake should go. I show him, and he places the rub-off papper somewhere, I'm trying to show and explain and hub's helps him get it right.
The guy say it's like on the neck (it's partially in my hairline) and I say I know, that the plan is to eventually let it "ripple" down my shoulder, like a snowfall. He goes to the back room, again.
Then the desk manager calls me up, asking about the placement. D comes to help, and we show him, and the owner who's also at the front desk all of a sudden, where it's intended to go, they agree it's much more "back of the neck" than neck (we have to separate words for these in Swedish) and then tha manager say that they talked to the artist, and he's agreed to do it but the price is upped from 1200-1400 sek (with is costly but acceptable) to 1800 sek (this is what I payed for my green dragon. No way I'm putting that much money into a simple snowflake) and when this does not make me run away, there comes a weak explanation about not being able to do a good enough job because it's drop-in... Here I got a bit pissed, since when does how I get my appointment affect his tattooing skill...

All in all, he refused to tattoo me. I'm gonna wear it for life, and would prefer an artist that can't even tell a customer "I don't feel comfortable giving you a neck tattoo" but has to have another employee do it, he wins no points in my world. No matter if I go back there, that boy is never touching my skin with a needle

I found this picture while googling, and it really appeals to me. I would ditch the upper flake, so instead, imagine the lower of the two I already have in it's place.
It might have to be tilted a little to work, but that's OK.
I like how it would tie them all together.
I'm thinking of doing a drop-in if we go to Stockholm this Friday, East Street Tattoo apparently had Friday as their drop-in day. Problem is you need to be there and get a queue number between 9 am and 10 am, which I can't since the boat-buss arrives in the city just before 10, and it would take some time to get there as well =( Maybe, maybe if we go by car. but then it's the problem of not getting lost...
